Vascular Ultrasound
- Vascular ultrasonography employs sound waves to assess the circulatory system of the body, detect blood clots, and help find obstructions in the veins and arteries.
DIAGNOSTIC TESTS
We are a specialized vascular ultrasound service dedicated to providing diagnostic imaging for venous and vascular conditions. Our team at Richmond Hill Diagnostic Center includes sonographers who have received additional training in arteries and veins, collaborating closely with a specialist vascular and endovascular surgeon. Our services encompass diagnostic vascular ultrasound, vascular surgery, and phlebology, with a focus on achieving optimal patient outcomes.
The vascular ultrasound procedure typically lasts around 30 minutes. Most ultrasounds do not require special preparation or dietary restrictions, allowing you to take medications, eat, and drink as usual. Arrival 10-20 minutes before your scheduled scan time is recommended.
For abdominal scans, fasting for six hours is necessary. Individuals with diabetes may have a light breakfast at 6:00 am along with their medications. During leg scans, it is advised not to wear jewelry, creams, perfumes, or other gels.
Throughout the procedure, you will lie on a specialized table, and a non-toxic gel will be applied to the skin. A probe will be placed over the area being examined to capture the necessary diagnostic images. Our team, consisting of specialist sonographers and doctors, collaborates to ensure the highest standard of care and the best possible outcomes for our patients.
There are several uses for vascular ultrasound, such as:
Diagnostic Imaging: Vascular ultrasound is used for diagnostic imaging to visualize and assess blood vessels, including arteries and veins.
Venous and Vascular Conditions: The primary focus is on detecting and evaluating conditions related to veins and vascular structures, such as blood clots, blockages, or abnormalities.
Specialized Service: Vascular ultrasound services are specialized, involving sonographers who undergo additional training in arteries and veins to provide expertise in the field.
Collaboration with Specialists: Sonographers work in collaboration with specialist vascular and endovascular surgeons to ensure comprehensive assessment and accurate diagnosis.
Diagnostic Vascular Ultrasound: The service includes diagnostic vascular ultrasound, allowing for real-time imaging and assessment of blood flow and vessel conditions.
Vascular Surgery: In addition to diagnostics, the center provides vascular surgery services, indicating a comprehensive approach to managing vascular disorders.
Phlebology: The scope of services extends to phlebology, addressing conditions related to veins, such as varicose veins or venous insufficiency.
Patient Outcomes: The overarching goal is to achieve the best possible patient outcomes, emphasizing a patient-centric approach to care.
Procedure Duration: A vascular ultrasound typically takes around 30 minutes, making it a relatively quick and non-invasive diagnostic procedure.
Preparation and Diet: For most ultrasounds, there is no need for special preparation or dietary restrictions, providing convenience for patients.
Abdominal Scans: In the case of abdominal scans, fasting for six hours may be required, and specific guidelines are provided for individuals with diabetes.
Patient Comfort: During the procedure, patients lie on a specialized table, and a non-toxic gel is applied for optimal skin contact, ensuring patient comfort throughout the examination.
Attire and Accessories: Patients are advised not to wear jewelry, creams, perfumes, or other gels during leg scans to facilitate accurate imaging.
Collaborative Team: The service is delivered by a collaborative team of specialist sonographers and doctors, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Comprehensive Care: The use of vascular ultrasound encompasses a range of services, from diagnosis to surgical interventions, offering a comprehensive care approach for vascular health.
PRIOR TO THE VASCULAR UTTRASOUND
Vascular ultrasound is a specialized diagnostic tool focusing on the assessment of blood vessels, including arteries and veins. This non-invasive imaging technique is instrumental in identifying and evaluating various vascular conditions, such as blood clots and abnormalities, offering real-time insights into the vascular system’s structure and function.
DURING THE TEST
Our dedicated team at Richmond Hill Diagnostic Center comprises expert sonographers who have undergone specialized training in arteries and veins. Collaborating closely with vascular and endovascular surgeons, we ensure a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and treatment of vascular issues.
FOLLOWING THE TEST
The procedure typically lasts around 30 minutes, requiring minimal preparation for most ultrasounds. During the examination, patients lie on a specialized table, and a non-toxic gel is applied for optimal skin contact. Vascular ultrasound is a key component of our commitment to delivering precise diagnostics and personalized care for the best possible patient outcomes.
